Challenge a group of mates to see who is the king of the karts!

Karting is not for the faint hearted as these nimble little vehicles can get up to speeds of 70mph! Also some of the tracks around the country will have chicanes, banked turns and fly-over’s.

When you arrive at your chosen track you will have a safety meeting where you will be advised on the centre’s flag and light signals (which will usually confirm to standard motor sport standards) as well as how to control the karts and general track racing etiquette. Once you have completed the talk and been kitted out into your racing gear, you will be unleashed onto the track to get some serious karting action under your belt.

Guidelines for participants

The minimum age to take part is 16 years old (under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent).

The minimum height to participate is 5′0″ and the maximum is 6′4″.

The maximum weight to participate is 18 stone.

Participants must be reasonably fit and healthy to take part as the driving can be physically demanding.

Outdoor Grand Prix Go Karting for Two

Length of activity 5 hours.

Kart racing for two in Pro 390cc karts capable of reaching speeds of up to 70mph!

Don’t for a minute think that go karting is a soft option. You will be treading in the footsteps of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button who started their motor sport careers on this very track in these karts, which incidentally can go as fast as 70mph.

On the day you will arrive at the venue and attend a safety meeting before being split into heavyweights and lightweights (a necessity to ensure a level playing field as weight can make a big difference in these machines). Maybe consider wearing black on the day to try to give you an edge by being selected in the lightweight category.

You will then jump in the kart and start some practice laps to get used to the kart and the 1,200m outdoor track layout. Then you will begin the heats which will be followed by the grand final for the fastest drivers. If you are in the top three fastest drivers you will make the trophy presentation!

Have you got what it takes to be the fastest karter on the day!

Karting is the breeding ground for many who went onto become professional motor sport drivers and even made it into Formula 1. Choose one of the many varied circuits around the country to test your skill and endurance driving a kart.

When you arrive at your chosen venue you will be given a safety briefing by your instructor, advice on kart controls and you will be kitted out in your racing clothing and helmet. Initially you will go out on the circuit for a few practice laps to get yourself familiar with the kart and the circuit layout. Then comes the serious stuff – the first of the qualifying heats. Try to get through as many heats as you can as fastest driver to qualify for the semi final and eventually the final. If you manage to be the fastest around the track on the day you will be awarded with a fantastic trophy!

Endurance Karting

Length of activity 2.5 hours.

Race against other go karters in an endurance race over 1 hour to see who the fastest driver is!

Karts maybe small, but they are surprisingly powerful and they are the starting point of many a professional drivers career. In fact driving a high powered kart is considered by many as the closest type of driving to that of Formula 1 style driving.

During this activity you will be racing non stop around a track for 1 hour against up to 35 other karts. Everyone will be timed and the fastest on the day will be awarded trophies.

When you arrive at the track you will get kitted out in your racing gear and helmet and your instructor will begin a short safety talk and advise on racing etiquette and kart controls. You will then jump in the kart and start some practice laps and a qualifying session. After this, you will then begin a full 1 hour timed non-stop race around the track against your fellow competitors. Will you make it onto the podium for the trophy presentation as one of the fastest drivers?

This driving activity is physically quite demanding so may not be suitable if you have a weak heart or arms, etc.
